Mike Balter has been Dave's mallet-maker of choice for many years, officially signing as an artist in 2006. Since then he has used these mallets exclusively in every performance that involves tuned percussion. Dave's main selection includes vibraphone mallets from the Pro Vibe Series, marimba mallets from the Contemporary Series and xylophone and glockenspiel mallets from the Unwound and Grandioso Unwound Series. A line of signature marimba mallets are currently in development and will be released in 2008.
Dave has been working with Ev-Entz Musical Supplies since 2006, who were approached in 2007 to take on the distribution of Mike Balter mallets in the UK and Ireland. With UK distribution being limited up until recently the full product range will be available in the UK for the first time. Most percussionists will already be familiar with the Pro Vibe Series (blues and greens) and some of the marimba mallets, but there's a huge amount more including mallets for xylophone, glockenspiel, bass drum, tam-tam and triangle. The Balter Basics range also comes to the UK which is a superior quality product aimed at the educational market at a very competitive price. Dave's role now includes working as the product specialist for the entire range of mallets.
